Chasin' Invasives with the Python Cowboy

Our team ventured deep into the Florida Everglades alongside the renowned Python Cowboy crew for an unforgettable conservation adventure. What began as a day of hiking through remote islands, watching highly trained snake dogs at work, and learning about the impact of invasive pythons quickly turned into an exciting encounter with a massive 13-foot female Burmese python.

From navigating dense vegetation to racing toward the sound of barking dogs, we experienced firsthand the important role python removal plays in protecting Florida's native wildlife. These invasive predators have dramatically impacted mammals, birds, and reptiles throughout the Everglades, making their removal a vital conservation effort.

Along the way, we gained insight into how professional snake hunters and their dogs locate hidden pythons, shared plenty of laughs, and witnessed an incredible moment as a first-time participant faced her fears and helped capture the largest snake of the trip.

Gun Fit & Gear for Women

Brandy and Podcast Host Julia Stallings talk all things shotguns.

Recoil management and proper gun fit are essential for a comfortable, successful shooting experience. Brandy highlights that poor gun fit is one of the biggest barriers for women and youth, as a properly fitted shotgun reduces felt recoil, improves comfort, and builds confidence. She emphasizes investing in quality equipment suited to your body and learning correct gun mounting techniques to minimize discomfort.

To transition from clays to hunting, she recommends practicing on skeet stations 3, 4, and 5 to mirror real hunting angles, building stamina through consistent practice, and ensuring your gun remains well-maintained and properly fitted as seasons or body changes occur.

When selecting equipment, prioritize function over marketing, avoid the “pink tax,” and consider beginner-friendly semi-automatics like the Beretta A400 Ultima for manageable recoil. Recoil-reducing accessories, such as Falcon Strike pads, can also improve comfort for new shooters and youth.
