Leigh Gibson | Defending Freedom Through Grassroots Leadership
Some leaders find their calling through opportunity. Others discover it through conviction.
For Leigh Gibson, serving as the Texas State Director for Gun Owners of America wasn't simply a career move. It was the natural progression of a lifelong commitment to protecting constitutional freedoms and empowering everyday Americans to make their voices heard.
Leigh's passion for the Second Amendment is rooted in real life, not politics alone. As a former concealed carry permit holder in California, she experienced firsthand the challenges that firearm owners can face under restrictive laws. Those experiences helped shape her belief that the right to self-defense is one worth protecting and one that requires citizens to stay engaged.
Her connection to the shooting sports extends beyond advocacy. Leigh is the mother of a USA Shooting Junior World Cup Team member and the wife of a firearms instructor, giving her a unique perspective on how firearms education, competition, and responsible ownership positively impact families and communities.
"I've seen firsthand how firearms bring families together, build confidence, and create opportunities for young athletes to excel," Leigh says. "Protecting those opportunities is something I'm deeply passionate about."
Long before joining Gun Owners of America, Leigh had already established herself as a dedicated grassroots organizer. Beginning her political activism in 2008, she spent years volunteering on campaigns, organizing fundraising efforts, and helping conservative candidates connect with their communities. After relocating to Texas, she continued building relationships across the state while also working as a reporter for the Kerrville Daily Times, developing a deep understanding of the issues affecting Texans.
Today, Leigh leads Gun Owners of America Texas with that same grassroots mindset.
Rather than focusing solely on legislation, she believes lasting change starts with informed, engaged citizens. Under her leadership, GOA Texas works to educate firearm owners, encourage civic involvement, and provide Texans with the tools they need to advocate for their constitutional rights.
Whether monitoring legislation, organizing local events, or helping members communicate with elected officials, Leigh remains focused on one mission: ensuring that the voices of law-abiding gun owners are represented at every level of government.
Her leadership is also helping bring more women into conversations surrounding firearms and constitutional rights.
As more women become hunters, competitive shooters, firearms instructors, and concealed carry holders, Leigh believes their perspectives are invaluable to the future of the Second Amendment. She encourages women to become informed, involved, and confident advocates, regardless of where they are in their firearms journey.
At Lady Outdoor Lifestyles, we believe leadership comes in many forms. Sometimes it's found in the field, on the range, or in the classroom. Other times, it's found in legislative chambers, community meetings, and grassroots organizations working to protect the freedoms that make those experiences possible.
Leigh Gibson exemplifies that kind of leadership. Through her dedication to education, advocacy, and empowering others, she continues to make a meaningful impact on Texas firearm owners while inspiring others to stand up, get involved, and protect the rights they value.
